Heritage Ireland 2030 submissions deadline extended printable version
22 Feb 2019 filed by editor - General An extra month is being allowed for the public and community heritage groups to have their say on Heritage Ireland 2030, the new national heritage plan for Ireland.
The public consultation, which was launched by the Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Minister Josepha Madigan on 1 November 2018, has attracted wide interest, with more than 70 consultation events being held around the country to date and over 400 submissions already received.
Speaking today, Minister Madigan said: “I would like to pay tribute to all of those community groups and organisations, particularly the Heritage Officer Network and the Heritage Council, who have come forward and organised so many consultation events around the country. There have been 74 events so far, and more are being arranged all the time. In order to allow as many people as possible to have the opportunity to contribute, I have listened to the Heritage Officers and other groups who have asked for more time. Accordingly, I have decided to extend the deadline for submissions until 31 March 2019.”
The public events are just one of four ways in which people can participate in the consultation. In addition they can::
- go to the Heritage Ireland 2030 section on the Department's website and complete the on-line survey https://www.chg.gov.ie/heritage/heritageireland2030
- send a written submission by post to Heritage Ireland 2030, Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, The Custom House, Dublin 1.
- or email a submission to HeritageIreland2030@chg.gov.ie
To find out about Heritage Ireland 2030 public events in their own county, people should contact the Heritage Officer in their local authority. A list of Heritage Officers is available on the Heritage Council website www.heritagecouncil.ie.
