Anti-eviction protesters halt Limerick court proceedings       printable version
07 May 2016 filed by editor - General

A group calling itself the Anti Eviction Task Force today staged a protest at Limerick Court where 170 home evictions were planned.

Today in Limerick Court, the Irish state on behalf of capitalism and property in favour of its own citizens and the original ideals of the 1916 proclamation, was planning to use the resource of the state to carry out 170 home evications throwing potentially hundreds more citizens onto the streets.

Fortunately for those terrorized by the banks and the last 8 years of austerity got a slight reprive when 150 members and supporters of the Anti Eviction Task Force held a protest outside and inside the court and interrupting the criminal proceedings.

The protestors setup their own people's court and jury and declared the repossession courts were not legitimate and
that the courts were supporting the mass eviction of people around the country.

Due to the intense public spotlight, the proceedings were abandoned for the day. However the state does not like to be embarrased or shown up in the same way thugs or the mafia don't like to be, so to try and criminalise the protest they deployed armed Garda purely so that this fact could be widely reported in the pro-capitalist pro-banking media and thereby imply the protest today was somehow more sinister and to try and drive a wedge between the general public and the protesters.
