Limerick, city of culchie culture? printable version
02 May 2014 filed by editor - Editorial 2014. Limerick currenlty enjoys the status or being Ireland's first City of Culture. It is perhaps a good time for those with their heads in their own clouds and up their own backsides to take a good look at just what is really going on.
Unless the reprehensible side of the culchie club mentality of Limerick and those feeding such mentality is addressed, and properly addressed, Limerick City's year as Ireland's 'City of Culture' will be nothing more that an ass wipe using soiled toilet paper.
No one will disagree that there are reprehensible activties and behaviours afoot in Ireland today. At the root of this problem is a nucleus of individuals whose outlook spreads no further than their own greed built upon nothing more substantial than corruption.
Those who stand up against such insanity will go down in history as good folk: those who continue to shove their greed driven filth and cause difficulty in life for others as a result will be noted as the trash that they are and represent.
As I walked home through the streets of Limerick City in the early hours of this morning, a solitary individual passing me by said: "Will we ever learn?"
Just as Ireland stood poised on the brink of becoming a global beacon of rightful management of a country and all that that entails—and despite what anyone might tell you otherwise that was exactly the case in 1995—unless the underlying rot is properly and correctly addressed, another opportunity for good will have been lost and all that will remain of Limerick's year as 'City of Culture' will be the question—whose culture?
